A large and impressive pair of Italian Breccia di Medici neoclassic marble urns on Pedestals with later Carrara marble bases, late 19th century. The urns alone stand at 36 inches. La Breccia medicea, also known as breccia di Seravezza was used up to Roman times. It was used ostensibly in Tuscany in furniture and decorations, and in the 16th century by the Medici family. Hence it's name.

Choate (1899-1965) was an American painter and sculptor who served as vice president of the National Sculpture Society. This sculpture of African male nude by Nathaniel Choate probably from his stay at Wiskow in the Sudan during the 1930'.Choate spent time traveling Morocco and the Sudan. He is in various museums including the Fogg Art Museum and Honolulu, as well as others. His most impressive work is "The Alligator Bender" in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
